Sexual Assault is at an all-time high
Reports of online dating-related sexual assault has risen by more than 450 percent in six years. In 2018, Denver police reported 53 crimes in which the victim and suspect met on a dating app. Sexual assault accounted for almost 34 percent of those crimes.
Get to know the person, not the profile
Filter Off is a new dating app that makes it easier for users to become comfortable with their matches BEFORE they meet in person. Filter Off allows users to participate in a 60 second FaceTime style chat. We believe this personal touch will allow users to vet one another before meeting and actually know who is behind the filter. If users ever feel uncomfortable during the video chat they can “X” out or report the other user for inappropriate content.
To take it one step further, we have eliminated swiping and messaging, so users are forced to get to know the person in a more intimate manner, allowing them to vet a match prior to the date. If both users like one another after the chat, they are then entered into a match. From there, the user can send a video message or video call them to learn more about their date.
